Believing the DreamMary Bartholomew, via The Good Book Stall
Continuing the stories of Thorliff and Elizabeth as they pursue their separate dreams, but also keeping up with the happenings back in Blessing, North Dakota, where Thorliff’s farming family the Bjorklunds live.
Anji, Thorliff’s girl back home, who he thought to spend the rest of his life with, is having a hard time keeping her family together following her Mother’s death, and nursing her injured father – then along comes a newcomer Mr Moen.
Thorliff, away in Northfield, Minnesota, has not written to her as much as he should and the two grow apart without Thorliff realising what is going on, so busy is he working at Elizabeth’s Father’s newspaper, and continuing his studies at the same time. Elizabeth is caught up in the measles epidemic that hits Northfield, but recovers in time to work during the summer at Dr Morganstein’s hospital in Chicago her dreams of going to medical School, still firmly in place. So much more goes into these Red River books that this is only a sketchy outline. They are a delight to read and it was with great joy that I was able to pick up Book Three, More Than a Dream and continue reading.
