From the Introduction...
"I first experienced the Presence of God in a selling of exquisite beauty. I was living and studying at a Christian Community in a tiny Alpine village in France... One night I found myself leaving he warmth of our cozy chalet to walk alone in the snowy mountains... I became aware of a lovely presence and my involuntary response was to whisper, 'Sweet Jesus.' This utterance was totally uncharacteristic of me, and I was shocked to hear myself speaking so tenderly of Jesus. As I pondered this brief response of a converted heart; at that moment I knew I belonged to Him." - Sarah Young; from the introduction to 'Jesus Calling'
Jesus Calling - Devotions for Every Day of the Year by Sarah Young was published by Thomas Nelson in September 2004 and is our 237th best seller. The ISBN for Jesus Calling - Devotions for Every Day of the Year is 9781591451884.
In these powerful pages are the words and Scriptures Jesus lovingly laid on her heart. Words of reassurance, comfort, and hope. Words that have made her increasingly aware of His presence and allowed her to enjoy His peace.
Jesus is calling out to you in the same way. Maybe you share the author's need for a great sense of 'God with you'. Or perhaps Jesus seems distant without you knowing why. Or maybe you have wandered farther from Him that you ever imagined you would. Here is a year's worth of daily readings from Young's journals to bring you closer to Christ and move your time with Him from monologue to a dialogue.
Each day is written as if Jesus Himself were speaking to you. Because He is. Do you hear Him calling?

How are the pages laid out please?
“Jesus Calling has made a profound enrichment to my life this past year. I can not begin to tell you how blessed I feel as I read it daily. It is like it is directed just to me. However, my two daughters and my sister and I are all reading and they feel the same way. I am very thankful to be able to tell others about this book. May the Lord continue to use it to bless many around the world. It will help you draw closer the Jesus and that should be the goal of each of us. I am beginning a new year of enjoying Jesus Calling.” – Deanna Landreth
“Words can't describe how this Jesus Calling Journal speaks into my life. I'm on my second year of the journal and it's amazing to see how God has directed my path from one year to the next. I'm grateful to be able to tell other ladies about this devotional that keeps me close to Jesus.” – Jackie Edwards
“Jesus Calling was my first book from Sarah Young, sat at my computer ever morning scanning a page daily to my daughter out of state, she then would send it to the other girls at work and so on, I know I have reached people who have fallen away from church and are now back on track. – Sharon Johnston
Sarah Young is quietly leading thousands of women worldwide on a journey of intimacy with Christ. Sarah has a philosophy degree from Wellesley College, a counselling degree from Georgia State University, a Master's degree from Tufts University, and studied with Francis Schaeffer's L'Abri Fellowship. Sarah and her husband have travelled around the world planting churches and counselling, and they currently reside in Australia.
Author of the hugely popular Jesus Calling devotional, Sarah lives in Perth, Western Australia. Married with children and two grandchildren in the U.S. she and her husband, are missionaries with the Presbyterian Church in America.
Diagnosed with two infections related to Lyme disease, she spent six months getting treatment in the U.S. in 2009 without seeing significant improvement. For several years she has also suffered from chronic dizziness. Her struggles with illness shaped her bestselling Jesus Today devotional, which features the same ‘first-person messages from Jesus’.
Speaking on the publication of her 2011 book, ‘Jesus Today’, Sarah told publisher’s weekly, “I am convinced that if I had been healthier I would not have been able to write this [latest] book. “It chronicles my journey from discouragement to hope.
“There seems to be a sense of hopelessness creeping into many people’s mindsets as they look at problems in their lives and in world events. But the hope we can find in the Bible is a sturdy reality - no matter what is happening in our lives or in the world.
First published in 2004 and drawing from her personal journals, Jesus Calling became a word-of-mouth sensation and has sold more than 5 million copies. Linked titles - including the follow-up devotionals Jesus Lives and Dear Jesus, have since sold a combined 6.5 million copies.
Her desire, Sarah says is that “Jesus Today will be a lifeline to people who feel as if they're sinking in hopelessness, as well as a source of encouragement to those whose lives are not so desperate.”
