We are looking to recruit someone to lead and develop our mentoring and schools work, to grow the number of young people we mentor and support.
There are 3 main areas to this role:
Mentoring Lead To develop, lead and manage Mentoring in Schools and the Community across Bath & North-East Somerset (BANES). You will manage all staff and volunteers who deliver mentoring. You will create a sustainable structure to recruit and train more paid community mentors and schools mentoring volunteers. You will work to enable LUX Youth Project to be approved by the Local Authority as a provider of Alternative Provision in relation to our mentoring work. You will work closely with Social Care who already refer to us, whilst building relationships with head teachers/pastoral leads, SEND and the Virtual School and others to develop where our referrals for mentoring come from. You will help us to significantly grow our capacity to deliver mentoring, helping to ensure young people can be mentored when they need it. You will control the budget and ensure this work is financially sustainable, ensuring mentoring is paid for by schools or the Local Authority where possible. You may also directly deliver mentoring regularly to help inform your practice and is required.
Schools Work Lead We currently deliver mentoring in 8 secondary schools. We also deliver chaplaincy in 1 of these schools and occasional group work in 1 school. The successful candidate will create a vision for our schools’ work exploring if there is more we can offer and explore if there are faith exploration groups or opportunities that we could be offering in school.
Leadership Team To be part of the staff leadership team, helping shape the Christian vision and direction of the charity.
