Purpose of the Role
The Speech, Language & Communication Specialist will support young people aged 11–18 with identified Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Autism, SEMH needs, and learning difficulties.
The postholder will ensure that communication barriers do not prevent learners from accessing education, work experience, vocational learning, sport, or community activities.
The role is designed to integrate speech and language development into the daily life of the academy rather than delivering therapy solely through withdrawal sessions.
The specialist will work closely with mentors, Skills Coaches, employers, parents, and external professionals to improve communication outcomes identified within Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
