Broughty Free Church is a congregation of the Free Church of Scotland in Dundee, in the picturesque seaside community of Broughty Ferry. We seek to appoint a staff member to help us lead, organise, develop, and grow our ministry to children, young people and families. Part-Time (0.5 FTE = 18.5 hours per week) Salary scale: £ 29,536 to £33,390 per annum pro rata, experience and training dependent. Working hours will require some flexibility. It may be possible to structure the working pattern to allow time off during school holidays, making this role particularly suitable for someone with school-age children.
Responsibilities • Work with our minister, leaders and volunteers to ensure we provide the best possible pastoral care and teaching for children, young people and families. • Assist in the recruitment and training of volunteers • Support parents in their biblical responsibilities for their children • Initiate and maintain gospel outreach within the community

Required qualifications
Essential • Spiritual maturity and a vibrant, active Christian faith. • A clear sense of God’s call to work with children, young people, and families. • Commitment to collaborative working, with the ability to build trust and develop strong relationships across local churches, schools, and the wider community. • A belief in the capacity of children and young people to develop a meaningful and lasting Christian faith. • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively and appropriately with all ages. • Self motivation and the ability to work independently. • Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage workload effectively and work under guidance when required. • Ability to support, encourage, and develop volunteers through informal supervision, training, and pastoral care. • Willingness to initiate new activities and develop existing programmes. • Emotional resilience and the ability to work under pressure. • Experience of leading and working with teams of volunteers. • Experience of working in a church or faith based environment with families, children, and/or young people. • Knowledge of safeguarding best practice and the ability to create a safe environment where children and families can flourish. • A secure understanding of the Christian faith and the ability to engage children and young people in faith exploration. • Participation in worship and involvement in the life of the congregation. • Attendance at church meetings and services as required. Desirable • A relevant qualification. • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. • Ability to help develop our online presence. • A full, clean driving licence. • Willingness to become a member of the congregation (recognising that this may not be practicable for a part time role).
