With an increase in AI’s activities, especially technological/digital and media content creation, a need has arisen for a lawyer to work closely with the AI’s Global General Counsel to provide advice and guidance on a variety of matters with an emphasis on commercial matters, typically intellectual property, contract, and governance matters/media/IT, and data protection. The role will suit someone who is keen to use their technical legal competence in this unique, fast-paced, dynamic and international ministry environment. Key deliverables The successful Legal Counsel will support the Global General Counsel in his advisory capacity.

The role promises to provide exposure to, and use , transferable legal skills, including transferable ones, in various matters relevant to an evangelistic charity with global reach, such as IP (currently mainly copyright and licensing) and general commercial issues including service contract reviews, grant agreements, and assisting in foreign entity creation, as well as assisting in provision of data protection advice. Examples of responsibilities, under the guidance of the Global General Counsel, include:

• providing appropriate and proportionate legal advice and problem-solving guidance to teams in a timely manner • reviewing, drafting and advisinge on a broad range of legal documentationcommercial contracts and terms of use, ensuring timely progression • providinge important input into policies, procedures and agreements to ensure legal compliance • developing healthy working relationships with teams under Global General Counsel’s guidance to develop and ensure clear understanding of legal needs and to serve the Alpha International teams • ensuring teams’ compliance with data protection legislation, including privacy by design, across the organisation e.g. through actions to improve AI’s Data Protection Working Group’s effectiveness, and working with HTB Group Data Protection Specialist to manage data protection audits, privacy impact assessments, and compliance assurance • providinge legal and practical support in the event formulation and/or execution of any legal processes (internal or external) being executed claims, including maintenance and coordination of data-related processes, providing legal advice if implemented • ensuring all data protection, privacy and cookie policies are kept up-to-date and represent current best practice • providinge support together with the Global General Counsel, as appropriate, to the Alpha International operations team, principally the AI’s Finance & Risk & Governance teamand Finance teams and Global General Counsel in foreign entity creation, and implementation of external tax advice • maintaining up-to-date working knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, guidance and best practice, requiring proactive research. • Fully qualified lawyer authorised to practice in England & Wales • Proven understanding and experience of issues in a global digital/IP/media context with ability to provide pragmatic solutions • Excellent contract drafting, attention to detail, relationship building and communication skills • Proven interest in learning and using transferable legal skills e.g. research, to support the legal advisory function • Basic knowledge of UK data protection laws and principles • Committed, mature and prayerful Christian who is passionate about using their legal talents for Christian evangelistic purposes • Integrity, sensitivity and confidentiality • Team player with initiative, ability to prioritise, and problem-solving attitude in a complex and dynamic context • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Desirable skills, experience & knowledge The following skills and experience would be greatly beneficial:

• Knowledge and/or experience of non-English laws especially relating to IT/IP/Media, data, and/or general commercial matters • Working technical knowledge of charity, property, music copyright, or trademark law • Working knowledge of applying UK data protection (a basic theoretical knowledge will be assumed i.e. essential) and online safety legislation • Language skills in languages other than English • Experience of hosting or helping on Alpha. either online or in person
