'There is something special about Jesus that I can't ignore...'
A new voice in the story of Jesus' birth, Joseph and Mary brings fresh eyes and an open heart to exploring the Nativity, as well as the first years of Jesus' life, through Elijah, the neighbour of Joseph and Mary, a devout Rabbi, and one of the first live to be transformed by Jesus.
It brings a new way of seeing not just how Jesus' birth was, but the tremendous impact it can have on a life.
Set at a time when civil unrest beneath the foot of Rome was breaking out across Judea. People were at unrest, fights and rebellions breaking out across the land. Living in this tumult, Elijah tries to save the life of a fellow citizen but is unable to stop the executioner's hand, leaving him with a promise to look after the newly fatherless family. As Jesus' birth triggers a tidal wave tragedy stemming from Herod's jealousy, Elijah finds himself pushed to keep his promise, to protect the widow and her two young sons for Roman tyranny and rage.
In a time where hope is hidden, Elijah finds the words of a young Jesus challenging everything he held as true.
Could this young Jewish boy really be who he says he is?
As Elijah comes face to face with the soldier responsible for executing the man whose family is now under Elijah's wing, he finds himself challenged to do the one thing no Jewish person feels capable of. To forgive a Roman soldier and live a life of mercy against the cruelty of Herod.
Bringing a story of hope and forgiveness, Joseph and Mary is a film with a new approach, a challenging message, and a way of seeing the undeniable impact Jesus' life brought to a world in pain and chaos.
