In 'Atonement', Thomas F. Torrance shows how Jesus Christ brings his work of salvation to its climax in his atoning death on the cross, bodily resurrection, ascension in our humanity, and the sending of the Spirit. The union of God and humanity begun at Bethlehem comes to fruition at Pentecost. United to him, through the Spirit, the church waits expectantly for his coming again when the salvation already complete in his person will be actualized in the redemption of all creation.
