For Christians seeking hope and understanding of creation

Explains God's plan for justice and resurrection promise

You will gain insight into God's future for the world

This book offers a transformative Christian vision for humanity and the Earth.

Jurgen Moltmann is one of the foremost German theologians, and one of the few current ones whose thought has made a significant impact on theology outside Germany. SCM has published Moltmann's work since his first book "Theology of Hope" in 1967, one of the most important works of post-war theology.

Moltmann attempts to bring together the biblical, historical, and theological elements of a new integrated Christian vision of the world, especially in light of our contemporary understandings of nature and the evolving universe. Anchored in the resurrection of Jesus, such a vision affirms that God is the God of resurrection promise, God is present in justice and righteousness, Jesus is the son of righteousness, and nature can be seen as the site of God's work toward the fulfilment of life.

    The Good Book Stall

    Average rating of0.0

Here is more creative writing, originally lectures or essays, from one of the world’s prominent living theologians. Jürgen Moltmann says that after sixty years studying theology, he still finds it “a fascinating, disturbing and wonderful discipline and an adventure of ideas” - and it shows! His stated aim in this book is “to bring out what is specific, strange and special about the Christian faith”. Among many particularly stimulating sections are the ones on: The Resurrection of Christ (which lies at the centre of what Moltmann writes); such explicitly eschatological issues as the resurrection of the body and the Final Judgment; the Shekinah (by which he means the mystery of God’s presence in Judaism and Christianity. These ideas were new to me, and most interesting); Monotheism and the Trinity, with special emphasis on the meaning of the term perichoresis; ‘the measure of the gods’ (an illuminating sermon on Psalm 98); a Meditation on the Seeing of God; and a final section headed ‘God in Nature’, where creation and evolution are both discussed. This is an exciting volume to read and reflect on.
