Before Jesus went to the cross to die for the sins of His lost sheep, He lifted up His eyes to heaven and prayed, what some consider to be, the greatest prayer ever prayed. To redeem His lost sheep Jesus had left His place in glory and came into the world as a man. As a man He lived a perfect life, kept the law, and died a vicarious death.Having finished the work assigned Him by the Father He was now ready to return to the glory He had with the Father before the world was. His final request was that all those who had been given to Him might be with Him and behold His glory forever. He prayed that God might show His love to them, the same love that He had for Him.
