This book examines the popular notion of Christians escaping from this world for heaven at death or at the rapture to reign permanently with Jesus-this is not what the Scripture teaches. Songs like, "this world is not my home, I am just passing through" have placed some Christians on the wrong side of the true biblical message, causing them to avoid their stewardship responsibility to care for the earth.

The idea that earth is not my home may have fostered decades of anti-science sentiments in the church against climate change, leading to the abuse of the environment. Why care for the earth if it is not your home, you are just passing through to a better place?

The true Christian vision for the earth is a biblical one; the earth is our home, and we have a creation mandate to care for it. Our visit to heaven will be short, for God Himself is relocating to earth and we will be coming back with Him to reign. This is the "thy kingdom come" that the Lord instructed us to pray for, learn more.
