Discovering America is the second collection of essays written by Victor Nuovo. There are sixty-eight short essays focused on the American political tradition beginning with the discovery of America through present day. The essays feature important historical figures who contributed to the country's founding, provided steady hands during times of upheaval, and guided the country in good times and bad.

The essays previously appeared in the Addison County Independent, a local newspaper serving Middlebury and surrounding towns in Addison County, Vermont. They were written to make political philosophy accessible to the public at a time when our political institutions are under great stress and public diligence is requisite.
