In this groundbreaking study Kim has examined in detail the theology and practice of an important Reformation thinker, and has shown not only something of the historic context and meaning, but, more significantly, the relevance of this thinking for the church today. Believers in all sorts of contexts can be grateful to Kim for a fresh approach and new resources for reflection on discipleship and being the church.
--Ruth Gouldbourne, Co-minister, Bloomsbury Central Baptist Church
Interpreting soteriology as the key component to Hubmaier's theology, Kim frames Hubmaier's concern for salvation around his other theological themes. Kim emphasizes that Hubmaier's distinctive articulation of faith and free will is inextricably tied to his sacramental theology. Rebuffing previous studies that rendered Hubmaier an unoriginal theologian, Kim argues for Hubmaier to be studied for his own unique theologizing. This book will be a helpful addition to complement the growing interest in Anabaptism's best early theologian.
--Brian C. Brewer, Truett Seminary, Baylor University
