Have the promises of God to Israel in the Old Testament expired? Many Christians today would agree with this suggestion. According to this line of thought, the church is the new Israel and the Jewish people no longer hold a special place in God's plan.Without realising it, many in the church today unconsciously read the Bible like the second century heretic Marcion, who saw the Old Testament as the work of a clumsy, inferior deity, and who sought to erase every trace of Jewishness from the New.
