At the intersection of a deep faith in God and being Black in America, comes this collection of sermons and other writings from the Episcopal priest called Father Chris. CHRISTOPHER BRATHWAITE was raised on the island of Barbados in the Caribbean, where as a boy he attended an Anglican church school. He says the sight of the priest making his daily walk from his residence to the church left "an indelible mark" on his mind. But it was really in the family home that his own father's example taught Chris and his nine siblings to hold on to the Christian faith as the touchstone for life. At age 50 Chris sold his successful business and, knowing his name meant "steadfast for Christ," followed a path to the ordained ministry by completing Master of Theology studies at Asbury Seminary. He eventually made his way to Central Florida, where these sermons and other writings were composed and taught. He currently serves the Central Florida Diocese of the Episcopal Church. Can God Set a Table in the Wilderness? is Father Christopher Brathwaite's eighth published book. His last book, Equity in God's Love, focused on healing the wounds of racism.
