      Product Description

In this short doctrine of hope, Moltmann examines the personal experiences in life, in which the future is awaited, times when we search for new beginnings and find them. In three parts that correspond to the three beginnings in life: birth, rebirth and resurrection, Moltmann extols the true value of Christian hope that powers new beginnings. The first part of the book looks at childhood and youth and the temporal beginning of life, and the way modern adults wish to escape the ageing process and remain forever young. He questions why, and argues that the reverse is actually true, that it is the prospect of the future that makes us young, however old we may be in terms of years. The second part looks at the courage of living, which hope arouses in us, so that we can get up again out of failures, disappointments and defeats and begin life afresh. Finally in the third part, Moltmann looks at the question of life after death and how ought we to imagine the divine Judgement. Written in wholly accessible style, including extracts from well-loved poetry and hymns as opposed to technical theological terms, this latest work from one of the leading theologians of our time, will be enjoyed by anyone with an interest in Christianity as well as students of Theology.
