1 John

In this letter, John addresses the false teaching leading his brothers and sisters astray, emphasising that Jesus was a real human who lived among us, not an abstract idea or theory. And John knows that because John knew Jesus. And for John, it is all about Jesus.

John wants his readers to be secure in their identity as children of God, to be able to speak with confidence the truth about Jesus and to be able to demonstrate in practical ways the life-changing love of God.
