Identity and belonging, issues of relationship and structure in the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia. Basic to the psychological needs of all humans is a secure sense of identity and the comfort of belonging in key contexts. Yet meeting both these needs is contingent on many factors and subject to adjustment as our lives change. The church, as the visible expression of the Kingdom of God, which is open to all, should accept and make welcome every person. Yet like every human institution, the church struggles to be as inclusive as its profession and prayers claim. The chapters in this book are reflections on the issues of identity and belonging in the context of the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia.
