The contents of this volume were selected for their exegetical and theological significance. Volume 62's translations from Luther on Exodus 1-18 and 19-20 culminate in Volume 63's Exposition of Exodus 20-34, which focuses on Mosaic law-not as binding, but as an example of good law that promises Christ.

Furthermore, Luther's lectures on Isaiah 9 and 53 show the central role of the prophetic book in the Wittenberg Reformation. These lectures served both as a sermon series on salvation by the grace of God, and as admonitions to future theologians to both teach and guard the Gospel against all its enemies.

Luther's lengthy Preface to Daniel [12] is striking for its homiletical style, its sharp attack on the papacy and papal church, and his understanding of the eschatological character of this chapter. Finally, Luther's Additional Comments on Hosea focuses on Paul's understanding and citation of Hosea 13:14 in 1 Cor. 15:55.
