There are Scholars who might have s thought that ethics and theology are very different disciplines. But in this section of the book, many great theological books, such as John Calvin's Institutes and Arles Hodge's Systematic theology, together with church catechisms such as the Heidelberg Catechisms. HC, the WLC, and the WSC, contain expositions of the Ten Commandments. When one gives a thought to it, it could be seen that ethics is certainly part of theology. For one thing, texts such as 2 Timothy 3:16-17 teach clearly that the purpose of the Bible is to produce good works: "All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof. For correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:16-17; RSV.). Redemption itself, which is one of the main themes of the Bible, is important not for its own sake, but so that the redeemed might glorify God in their actions: "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
