In this insightful study, Patrícia Calvário explores the profound metaphysical framework of Saint Gregory Palamas, specifically focusing on the intersection of the material body and the uncreated energies of God. Palamas, a cornerstone of Eastern Orthodox theology, argues that the human person is not merely a soul trapped in a vessel, but a composite being called to full union with the Divine. This book meticulously unpacks the 'absorption' of the body by the spirit, a concept that highlights how the physical realm is not discarded but transfigured by the light of Tabor. By engaging with Palamas' writings, the author offers a robust defence of the sanctity of the body and its central role in the life of prayer. Whether you are a student of patristic theology or an enthusiast of mystical traditions, this volume provides a rigorous and illuminating look at how God’s grace permeates our physical existence, offering a vision of hope and total restoration for the entire human person.
