For history enthusiasts and Bible readers alike

Illuminates the struggle for English Bible access

You will gain a deeper appreciation for Tyndale's legacy

Explore the inspiring story of William Tyndale and his English Bible translation.

Set in the turbulent years of Henry VIII and the English Reformation, this is a story of sacrifice, exile, secret agents, betrayal and martyrdom.

Behind it all was the determined conviction of a great scholar to provide a Bible in English for everyone to read.

William Tyndale was the first to translate into English the New Testament and much of the Old Testament from the original Greek and Hebrew.

A wonderfully accessible telling of Tyndale’s story made vivid by well-chosen quotes and illustrations. This book, with details of his life corrected by recent scholarship, is for those familiar with the facts, and an exciting introduction for newcomers.

Mary Clow

Chair of the Tyndale Society

Tyndale’s translation and printing of the Bible in English for the first time in fifteen hundred years is a thrilling event in history that has

significantly impacted the world ever since. In this book, the past

comes alive, creating an appetite to read the Bible for ourselves.

This IS a brilliant "Must Read" for ALL Christians who claim to love the Holy Bible. The story of a man dedicated to do his part (although I don't think that he knew it) in the restoration of the Apostolic Congregation from the evil that was/is the "church of Rome." It is the story of a man invariably on the move to avoid the agents of Roman Catholicism sent out by various authorities to detain, imprison, torture and kill for what? For nothing more than to have the Holy Bible in the language of the people of England. There is a curious passage in Acts 3 v 21 "times of restitution of all things." By about AD500 the Apostolic Congregation was not even a memory. The Roman church was, "el supremo" with the various "councils" giving their various opinions on such matters as "how many angels can balance on a pin head" I am being facetious, sorry. Gnostic philosophies abounded everywhere especially in Roman Catholicism, superstition abounded with indulgences etc. Into this stepped in years of wonder; Hus, Tyndale, Whycliffe, Luther, Anabaptists, the Pietistic Movement, the Wesley Family; Susan, John and Charles, Healing movement, Bill Booth; social concern, Baptism in the Holy Spirit, Life in the Spirit and Spiritual Gifts, Congregationalism, Spontaneous praise and worship all part of God bringing back HIS people to true faith and in essence in this country. Problem was that as each restoring of a revealed facet of the lost ministry they would "fort up" and sadly persecute the next revelation. So sad! William Tyndales' great desire was that the ploughboy should be able to read the Word of God for himself in his own language. What could be so wrong in that? For the Roman Catholic Popes EVERYTHING! William Tyndale was .....................As I said at the beginning I encourage every person calling themselves a Christian regardless of their denomination to READ THIS BOOK it really is most excellent! PS I may have got the order wrong, but it really is the gist of the matter. PPS LOOK UP! Our redemption is nigh! Praise God!
