This study explores corrodies throughout history both as a word and its general use as well as how it evolved and was used in monastic society. Throughout the text are studies of the corrody as it related to the economy and property as well as how it was abused and how it effected the monastic system as a whole. Howard Morris Struckert (1884-1956) received his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania. He served as priest in a number of churches in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Struckert was a professor at the University of Pennsylvania, Ohio State University, Rutgers University, the Philadelphia Divinity School, and Episcopal Academy, teaching both History and Philosophy.
