"Truth is in the immortality of the spirit."

On May 1, 1965, while the Soviet Union celebrated its power in downtown Tbilisi, a lone monk doused a massive 12-meter portrait of Lenin with kerosene and set it ablaze. As the face of the "idol" turned to ash, Father Gabriel preached to the terrified crowd: "Glory is not due to this dead man, but to Christ the God!"

Beaten until he sustained seventeen fractures and sentenced to death, Father Gabriel was saved by Divine Providence-only to be diagnosed as a "psychopathic personality" with the medical case number 666. Cast out of the priesthood and declared insane by the state, he took up one of the rarest and most difficult spiritual feats: the path of the Salos, a Fool for Christ.

This biography reveals the hidden life of Saint Gabriel of Georgia. The Orthodox Christian monk who feigned drunkenness to hide his holiness.

Inside, you will discover the extraordinary world of Saint Gabriel (Urgebadze):
