Being on fire is not as important as maintaining the fire. We have heard stories of folks who used to be on fire for the Lord, passionate for the things of the Kingdom, full of vigor, energy, and vision. They were at the forefront of evangelism, missions, discipleship but later in life, they became a shadow of who they used to be. Some of the folks who were at the forefront of the move of God on campus are nowhere to be found now when it pertains to the issues of the Kingdom. No wonder the preacher said this in the book of Ecclesiastes:

"I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn't always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn't always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don't always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time." Ecclesiastes 9:11 NLT

Therefore, carrying the fire is not enough. You have to maintain the fire and fan it into flames consistently. That's the main thing. How do you maintain the fire on the altar and how do you fan it into flames? That is what this book is about.
