Every Christian carries a map, whether consciously or not: a mental image of the journey they make through life as they perceive it from their Christian tradition, cultural background, or what they understand from the Bible.

However, our mental maps create expectations that are often challenged by the realities of life. Using the metaphor of cartography, Mary and Charles Hippsley help us to notice and critique the unexamined assumptions that underlie our expectations and experiences.

Through exploring stages of faith development, what we gain from travelling through difficult terrain, and the resources that strengthen us, they aim to equip the traveller to navigate their journey towards maturity more purposefully.
