By analyzing those prophetic predictions that employ temporal expressions as introductory transitions - expressions such as "in that day," "behold, days are coming," and "at the end of days" - De Vries demonstrates how futuristic expectation was expanded and reshaped within the prophetic collection toward an eventual canonical form.
