Greater Than Jonah

Of all the biblical stories, none is more well-known-or misunderstood-than that of Jonah and the whale. This ancient tale of a prophet who runs from his call has been the source of countless sermons on obedience, theories about the judgment of God, and is even the namesake of a psychological diagnosis. Jesus used this story to illustrate his own resurrection and claimed to be "Greater Than Jonah."

What is it about Jonah's call, his journey, and his story that fascinates us, and that prompted Jesus to use it as a sign to his generation? Together, we will explore the only book of the Bible to end with a question mark and discover new questions that surface as we meet Jesus through the story of Jonah.
