"I chose TEAR$ OF JOY as the title because I was inspired by a poem I wrote with the same name. TEAR$ OF JOY because this collection touches on all emotions. TEAR$ OF JOY because contradiction, duality, and complexity are a part of life, and I am not afraid to embrace that at all. Especially now." - Ananda Ami

TEAR$ OF JOY is a collection of poems written by 20-year-old musician Ananda Ami. This collection of emotional coming-of-age poems mentions topics such as spirituality, romance, tragedy, love, betrayal, society, mental health, and empowerment.

The author expresses contradictions, complexities, and the thin veil between light and dark. She can exercise an expansive vocabulary in her stories but maintain her hip-hop rhythm. Ami's undeniable hip-hop talent is understood without her voice or an instrumental.

So intentional, Ananda Ami arranged the poems in a sensible "tracklist" to keep the reader on their toes. In this book, readers are encouraged to flow with the author.
