This book is divided in to three parts, heartbreak, rebirth, and love. Solitary takes readers on a journey of the growth of its author, J.M. Blake as he documents the pain that necessitates growth of the soul in the pursuit of star crossed love. Solitary uses literary references from Nietzche, Dante, Milton, Goethe, Kipling, Yoshikawa, H.G. Wells, as well as the Bible. The poems are compiled from the author's experiences and feelings between Chicago and San Diego. Solitary offers an inside look at how the prison of the heart offers growth for the soul.
