Australia is a country with no rules when it comes to weather events.

This collection of poems shows the back-breaking hard work and lack of sleep both men and women undertake to bring order to towns and countryside after a bad weather event, such as fire, flood or drought.

Country property owners work hard to make a living during normal times, then watch it all disappear during a fire, flood or drought. Despair is ignored while saving lives but the slow recovery that follows for the next year or two adds to their despair. However, their "can do" attitude is admired by so many.
