My Journey to Self-Love

My Journey to Self-Love is about a girl struggling to find true love. As a small baby, she was adopted into a family that wanted her to feel accepted but had a hard time showing it. Most of her life she experienced sexual and verbal abuse from the people she was supposed to be able to trust. Growing up, it was hard for her to make friends and she dealt with years of being bullied. Most of her life she had searched and wished for someone to love her. So as she grew up, relationships were always unhealthy ones, until she met the love of her life when she was just eighteen. His name was Derrick. She could be her true self around him and he still accepted her. The young girl's parents didn't like him and wouldn't allow them to continue seeing each other which eventually pushed the two apart. This devastated the young girl and pushed her to do things that only caused her more pain. The choices she was making showed no self-respect or that she cared for herself. She felt no one else loved her or felt she deserved to have good people in her life, so she went after the bad ones and she found them.

After years of living in emotional pain, she felt there had to be more out there; that she could have a life she had always dreamed of. She turned to God, asking him to take control and let her find true love before she died. God did just that. He brought Derrick back after all of those years of being apart. Derrick showed her that she was beautiful and that she deserved the best in life. Finding him caused her to come to life again. This time, she wasn't going to let anything get in her way.
