Service members are images of dutiful obligation to their country and exemplify strength, courage, honor, and respect. It takes drive, commitment, and professionalism to ascend the ranks of any branch of service. Our military is great at creating soldiers and phenomenal at making sailors and marines. However, we are horrible at making soldiers and airmen into husbands and we are terrible at making sailors and marines into wives.

I had become a great leader, I was considered the subject matter expert of my job in the Navy, but I realized that after reaching that lofty position, I was miserable, and my accomplishments left me unfulfilled. As I became a successful leader, it turned out I was not a very good husband. I was not an effective father, nor did I know how to be. I became so focused on my career that I lost connection with my wife and children. It was a move that would prove almost fatal to my marriage.
