Tom Wells writes with the conviction that Christians must come back to first principles. Human need and world conditions are not the starting point. Only then can the Church truly respond to the command to 'declare his glory among the nations'. This is a challenging book, and equally relevant to Christians at home and abroad. It treats missionary endeavour not as a separate interest but as basic to Christianity itself. By reference to Brainerd, Carey and Martyn the author also shows the true inspiration which lay behind the missionary movement of the 18th and 19th centuries.
