Hannah Marshman is rarely named among the great figures of Protestant missions, yet her life was inextricably woven into one of the most influential missionary movements of the nineteenth century. Though she is often remembered only as the wife of Joshua Marshman, Hannah's story reveals a deeper and more demanding form of faithfulness--one marked by endurance, conviction, and costly obedience in the pioneer days of modern missions. This book recenters Hannah Marshman within the Serampore Mission, not by reshaping her into a modern heroine but by taking her context seriously.
