“This beautiful devotional manual of Saint Alphonsus’s compresses some major themes of late Baroque spirituality into a single whole: the practice of mental prayer, vivid awareness of the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, and devotion to the Blessed Mother. Father Dennis Billy has retrieved for us a spiritual classic with his insightful introduction, instructive commentary, and a clear and strong translation.”
Lawrence S. Cunningham, John A. O’Brien Professor of Theology, The University of Notre Dame

“A serious pastoral challenge for the Church is to respond to the frequently asked question, “How should I pray?” I am happy to endorse the new translation of the classic work of Saint Adolphus Liguori along with the insightful commentary by Father Dennis Billy, because it teaches people how to pray in a practical manner.

“This contemporary translation by Fr. Dennis Billy, C.Ss.R., is most faithful to the prayers and meditations of Alphonsus, while giving the reader practical and focused steps to deepening an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament, and with Mary, the Mother of God.”
