Frank Furedi emphasises the value of intellectuals in today's world and explains why it is important to connect the world of intellectualism with that of the general public.

It is stressed that a true intellect is of tremendous value to society- especially today's modern society which is oversupplied with facile pundits and spin-doctors. Furedi explains that today's intellectual is an endangered species within modern society. For a more fruitful and productive society, intellectuals must be more appreciated by and connected to the general public.
