Sanctuary is a collection of poetry that emerged from Martyn Halsall's year as poet in residence at Carlisle Cathedral in 2013. His poetry has been reproduced in the Church Times, Third Way, The Reader and in numerous poetry magazines and anthologies and he has received numerous national poetry awards, including the Keats-Shelley Memorial Award. The title poem from the collection was nominated by the American literary magazine, Stepaway, for a leading US poetry prize. Martyn Halsall is in great demand as a speaker and his bookings this year include the Words by the Water literary festival in the Lake District, a diocesan clergy conference, an academic conference at the University of Cumbria, a poetry day at Manchester, and other events. In addition, he is involved with New Writing Cumbria and other local literary networks and groups.
