The author, Robert Simpson, was a Presbyterian parish minister in Christchurch, New Zealand, and has a background in, and love of, good literature, including managing a Christian bookshop in Port Moresby, and later becoming a pastor. After a bout of clinical depression, electro-convulsive therapy, and following a severe stroke, he was forced to retire, but has been writing devotional books and novels ever since.
