This N.E.W. LIFE Booklet is the second in a 7-volume companion series to the N.E.W. LIFE (Nutrition, Exercise, Wellness for LIFE): Biblical Support for Health and Freedom from Bondage to Food and Diets book (Chapter 3). There are 7 N.E.W. LIFE Booklets which coincide with the chapters in the N.E.W. LIFE book. Each booklet reinforces excerpts from the N.E.W. LIFE book and introduces insightful questions to support the process of healing from underlying issues that drive out-of-balance eating behaviors. The N.E.W. LIFE Booklets may be used by individuals or in a fellowship group setting to facilitate discussion.

This N.E.W. LIFE Booklet focuses on the gift of the Holy Spirit to believers, His role as Helper, Counselor and Comforter, and the power of the Holy Spirit available to overcome bondage to food as opposed to the powerless law and diets. Important distinction is made between willpower (which runs out) and self-control (a fruit of the Spirit perpetually available to the believer) and the all-important issue of releasing control (surrender to God) in order to gain control (self-control fruit of the Spirit) and the imperative role of God's Grace. God's Word encourages believers to be filled with, walk in and be led by the Holy Spirit and to realize His "immeasurably more" power at work within us to overcome the power of the flesh, sin and temptation from the devil. The reader is encouraged to read the Holy Spirit-inspired Word of God daily to do so and the key role of repentance in achieving freedom is explained.
