f there is anything we can take away from John the Baptist and the powerful Spirit-led life he lived, it is this: He quickly pointed to Christ, the Lord. In essence, John was saying, I am not alive today for my sake; my life is about promoting the life of Jesus -nothing else! John adds by saying, I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to lose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

In the following chapters, God has put in my heart a few principles about what it means to desire more of Christ's characteristics and how one must enter a life of deeper brokenness. To have more of Jesus, one must die more to self. There is no way around this. I hear believers crying out, Jesus, give me more of You! I can almost hear Jesus saying, You, give me more of you, and you will have more of me!
