"For I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus." The Greek word for marks is stigmata, often used to describe a brand applied on cattle or on a slave. Paul's marks though were not put there by Jesus directly. They were given to Paul by his persecutors because he preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 11:24-25, KJV). He now wore the marks as a sign of Jesus' ownership of him. What a powerful image, for us as believers, to bear in our bodies the marks of Jesus Christ! The evidence, as it were that we have been partakers of the sufferings of Christ! Like the Apostle Paul many of you reading this book have experienced situations, quite frankly, that were designed to kill you. Betrayal by those you trusted, rejection by loved ones, and losses to great to internalize. As a survivor of many turbulent seasons throughout my lifetime, I know surviving difficult times can be challenging at best and nearly impossible at worst. The message of this book is for you. I hope to offer encouragement to those who are in a fight to survive, navigate and find their way to victory.
