One minute, we’re on top of the world, then everything changes. One minute were on top of the world where life just seems to be going up, up, up, and in a flash, everything changes, and we are free-falling to the ground with no safety net below to break the fall. The winter of 2013 began a season of sifting for our family, and during the process, we knew if something miraculous did not happen, we could lose not one but maybe two of our three children. When hope ran out and medicine fails, we discovered something that could only be birth through great adversity. We found a level of faith in God that we had read about in the Bible but had never experienced personally or seen it demonstrated in our circle. We learned how to trust God’s hand even when we cannot see or feel Him and our prayers seem to hang in the room where they were prayed, failing to reach the heavens. We learned how to stand even when quitting and calling it God’s plan was the easier option.
