The tap, tap of crutches echoed through the vaulted ceiling of the ornate church as a little girl hobbled up the marble aisle toward the altar, her white dress swishing around knee-high braces. On her First Holy Communion day, Anna Joy whispered a prayer: Jesus, I want to belong to you, spirit, soul, and body.

That prayer marked the beginning of an extraordinary life. Living with cerebral palsy, Anna Joy carried both pain and joy in equal measure. She faced hardship, loss, abuse, and betrayal. Yet her intimacy with Christ deepened, and her childlike faith opened the way to God's presence, provision, and miracles.

Anna Joy embraced adventure and refused to be defined by obstacles. Later, as her world grew smaller with physical decline, her circle of intercessory prayer only widened.
