The first step in successfully "riding shotgun" is to understand what Jesus went through on the cross for you. The Great Exchange. Your filthy menstrual rags of righteousness (see Isaiah 64:6) traded for God's perfect righteousness in the person and work of His Son, Jesus. It has been some years since I have understood even a little what this means. But recently I have come to really understand how LOPSIDED this trade really was and is. God, by His own doing, allows Himself to be OUTRADED, not because He feels bad for us but simply because He wants us to understand how great our salvation truly is. He became like us so that we could (spiritually speaking) become like Him. His robe for our robe. His perfection for our imperfection. His beauty for our ugliness. We would be a fool to shew this offer away and even more foolish if once we enter into this offer, refuse to take advantage of it and even share it with other lost souls.
