Giving in good or bad faith has consequences, has understand the concept of cheerful giving to God. Believe you me, to many believers, giving in the house of God has become a norm, and it is known to be part and parcel of any church service, hence viewed as monotonous. Some see it as a way of servants of God milking them dry to line their pockets; some see it as belonging to the history books as far as Christianity is concerned; yet some see it as the core to true Christianity. Giving is all about worship, not money. Worship intensifies with giving in spirit and in truth. God gave his only begotten son to the world, for he loved the world so much. It was only through this giving that reconciled mankind to his creator. Man had sinned, and fallen short of the glory of God that he could no longer stand before God as a pleasing creation. God gave in good faith, hence manifestation of salvation for future generations of mankind. This was God's ultimate route and a doorway to prepare man to stand right before God as a pleasing creation come judgment day.
Note, the way you give is not measured by how much you give, but how much you keep for yourself. As you give, ask yourself; are you giving as you are able or from the tip of your accumulated wealth, just to pacify your conscience or pass the religious requirements? Any form of giving back to the Lord on your part qualifies you to be a full handed Christian, while any form of holding back qualifies to be an empty handed Christian. Simply put, God does not want you to align with the world's principle of getting way rather than giving way. God views constantly striving to get more for oneself as a violation to the Tenth Commandment that forbids coveting. Thus give offerings and pay tithes as they belong to God. Note that, even temporary withholding what is not yours is tantamount to stealing as dictated by Jesus' words in Luke 16v10.
