Set in Michigan in the 1890s, Elijah's Angel is the story of two families, both touched by tragedy and their ultimate triumphs in embracing God's love.

Matthew Spencer, widowed for eight years, is a farmer raising five children in the small community of Highland, Michigan. Following the death of his wife, he has abandoned God, but much to his surprise, with the unexpected arrival of Polly Morrow, he finds that God has not abandoned him. Matthew's well-ordered world is shaken, especially when he realizes that Polly may not be what she seems to be.
