Elian thought he was fortunate for evading death at the end of Falgon's Fall, but he was mistaken. There was a curse placed upon him by the Auric, Terros. The curse drains his power over time, and daily he grows closer to death's door. Despite the curse, Elian and Sirra reside with the wolf mages Kahla and Wild Toe at their den in Falkewood Forest. The wolves, along with their elf friend Rhien, journey to the fabled city of Falcoria, seeking the aid of the hidden elves for Elian's benefit. The elves, however, refuse to help Elian. Citing prejudice against humans, their decision is absolute.

The rejection of the elves is a harsh blow. While his spirits are low, Elian's friend, Sye, approaches with troubling news. The commander of Falgon's knights reveals a rumor - a disturbing one. A dragon has invaded the land of Ladia. In fact, he has already taken over a fortress. The group seeks to investigate this rumor, taking advantage of the opportunity. After all, a dragon would be a powerful ally.

During Elian's adventure, his father, Thrye, launches his own investigation - the cause of the disappearance of several citizens. As he is pulled further into the investigation, Elian's father uncovers an unspeakable evil lurking underneath the castle.

One thing is for certain - there is darkness within the kingdom of Falgon.
