A Chequered Legacy is a two-volume study course in which popular author Nick Fawcett explores 'the good, the bad and the ugly' of the Church. Starting in Advent, The Good looks at the positive aspects of the Church, celebrating some of the achievements of Christian believers across the years in terms of building a better world, and asking what their efforts and example might teach us today. In the Lent book, The Bad and the Ugly, Nick Fawcett moves on to faults of the Church; faults that call us to reflect, confess, repent and work as best we can for a better, more enlightened future. We have inherited a chequered church history: a mixture of the inspiring and appalling, wonderful and awful, and we need to learn from both. Through doing so honestly, we can open the way for God to help us become more fully the people he would have us be.
