A Rose for Mat is a story of a young girl who has lost her Grandmother. She is challenged by the way adults are responding to her in the days leading up to the funeral. After a conversation with her parents, she is empowered to make a decision about how she will say good-bye to her grandmother.

In addition to being a story, A Rose for Mat is also an activity book created to aid young readers, their adult supporters, and educators through the grieving process.
